How SageOne Accounting can save you time and money

08/05/2017 By Emma Stevens

sageone

Have you come across SageOne? It’s a suite of online accounting software that’s perfect for small businesses. Especially if you don’t have any accountancy knowledge. The software is designed for business owners who want to keep accurate records but don’t have the time for extra training in accounting.

So, what are the benefits of SageOne?

Your accountant can work with you online!

If your accounting is sometimes a little haphazard, having a system like SageOne in place can help you to get on top of everything. You don’t have to worry about losing invoices or receipts, or getting emails from your accountant because there’s something missing.

SageOne Cashbook is a really straightforward way of recording all the money that goes in or out of your business as it happens, and if you already have an accountant they can log in to your account with your permission and see exactly what’s happening too. It saves you time as well as hassle and your accountant also saves time – which saves you money if you pay by the hour!

Keep track of your finances

You can see at a glance where the money is going from your business, using reports and totals tools. This helps you get a really good idea of what you might be able to do in the future to make your business more efficient. If you look at the Summary section, you can see your business income, expenses and even get a rough idea of what your profit will be for the month and year to date. There’s also a screen that will run a full Profit and Loss Report.

SageOne is designed to help cash-based businesses. It gives you the ability to record any cash you’ve paid into the bank, simply and quickly, without any complications such as having to match your specific income or expenses to the deposits you make.

It can be hard to keep track of all the payments that regularly come from your account, but with SageOne you can enter all the details just once and the system will record it for you until you tell it otherwise. You can also keep track of one-off payments and anything else that you have to pay out, giving you a complete record of what’s going out.

Manage your customers

You can keep all of your customer records in one place using the software and you can even add your own notes against each contact so that you can refer back to them later – a great way to help you give clients a personal touch and build relationships as well as keeping contact details well organised.

For customers you deal with regularly you can produce statements of activity that show you (and them) all of the payments they’ve made. You can even set the system up to email them directly to a customer regularly, keeping everyone up to date.

Keeping an eye on your bank

SageOne takes the stress out of bank reconciliation for you. Your accountant will love it because using software to make sure that you get the figures correct saves everyone time, phone calls and money. SageOne makes the process of bank reconciliation as simple as possible. There are step by step instructions to follow and all you need to get started with it is your normal bank statement.

Keeping HMRC Happy

If you don’t pay VAT on time, you could be in for a hefty fine, so SageOne is set up to make it easy for you. The software calculates the amount of VAT for you based on the information you’ve entered, and then you just submit the figures to HMRC. The software can handle all the main small business VAT schemes, including Flat Rate so whatever your circumstances it takes the stress out of dealing with the tax office – or trying to work it out on the HMRC website!
